Greywacke or Sandstone is a common clastic sedimentary stone, which has a high silica (Quartz) content. You can usually see or feel its quartz grains, which also explains why it is often used as a high PSV stone for asphalt. Alternative names for Sandstone are Gritstone, Gres and Quartzite. Mostly it is not a very hard, durable stone, so LA-values are typically lower than for example Basalt or Granite. The naturally varying colours characterize Sandstone and give this stone its beauty.
